Mission & Values

Our Mission

At J. Addison School, we endeavor to provide an inclusive environment that fosters cooperative learning, intelligence, creativity, and innovation. We encourage students to continually and conscientiously challenge and motivate themselves to their full potential.

Our Philosophy

At J. Addison School, we cultivate a multidimensional educational environment that goes beyond academic accomplishments and personal achievements. We motivate our students to aim high and to push boundaries but also never to lose sight of respecting and embracing the uniqueness and talents of one another. We arm them with skills and values which are vital to becoming a responsible global citizen, so they will be ready to face the future with confidence, integrity, compassion, independence, and leadership.

Our Motto

“Our Students’ Success Is Our Success”

Our Code of Conduct

All participants of J. Addison School – students, parents/guardians, volunteers, teachers and other staff members whether they are on school property, on school buses or at school-authorized events or activities – are included in this Code of Conduct,  which is shaped by the Ontario Ministry of Education Code of Conduct.

All members of the school community must be treated with respect and dignity, especially persons in positions of authority.

Responsible citizenship involves appropriate participation in the life of the school community. Active and engaged citizens are aware of their rights, and more importantly, they accept responsibility for protecting their rights and the rights of others.

Members of the school community are expected to use non-violent means to resolve conflict. Physically aggressive behaviour is not a responsible means for interacting with others.

The possession, use or threatened use of any object to injure another person endangers the safety of oneself and others.

Alcohol and illegal drugs are addictive and present a health hazard. Schools will work cooperatively with police as well as drug and alcohol agencies to promote prevention strategies and, when necessary, respond to school members who are in possession of, or under the influence of, alcohol or illegal drugs.

Insults, disrespect, and other hurtful acts disrupt the teaching, learning and business in a school community. Members of the school community have a responsibility to maintain an environment where conflict and differences can be addressed in a manner characterized by respect and civility.

J. Addison School Song

Gold and Royal Blue
Music composed by Samantha Ngan
Lyrics by Lee Venditti

Just outside the city
With a glorious view
Stands our J. Addison
Rising towards the blue

High above the skyline
Raise our glory flame
Soaring to the heavens
Proudly sing our name

Chorus:
Sing the voices loudly
Gold and royal blue
Praise to thee J. Addison
Praises to you (x2)

Though we face the challenge
Moving ahead each day
United as one we’re
Stronger everyday

We salute J. Addison
With honor proud and true
Together guarding our school
Of the gold and blue

Chorus:
Sing the voices loudly
Gold and royal blue
Praise to thee J. Addison
Praises to you (x2)

Though we face the challenge
Moving ahead each day
United as one we’re
Stronger everyday

We salute J. Addison
With honor proud and true
Together guarding our school
Of the gold and blue

Chorus:
Sing the voices loudly
Gold and royal blue
Praise to thee J. Addison
Praises to you (x2)

Ohhhhh…
Oohhhhhhh…
