Principal’s Message

Dear J. Addison Community,

As I humbly and gratefully begin my tenure as Principal of J. Addison School, I can share with you that after one year in this wonderful school, I have already accumulated great memories and experiences that resonate within and provide tremendous energy, excitement and outlook toward the school year ahead.

Entering J. Addison’s 21^st year, we are excited to have a very strong staff of teachers and the best overall team of quality individuals one can imagine.

Our teachers and staff are dedicated to the care of all our students, overseeing not only their academic growth but also their character development and over all well being. The students come first and this is at the forefront of our minds each day we enter the school.

We continue our commitment to developing student skills in the areas of critical thinking, creativity, technology, communication and collaboration, while supporting our students’ interests and passions. Our Focus for Success after school program, which has provided our students with academic support and extra-curricular activities over the years, continues, with all sorts of new and exciting learning and practice opportunities.

Our community is one in which every member looks for the best in one another. We do not expect perfection from our students, however our standards are very high. We know that with determination and support, every individual in this school will grow in all areas, thrive in the celebration and use of all their gifts and reach great success on this pathway to post-secondary education and beyond.

Surmounting all of this, our mission is to treat each other with kindness, thoughtfulness and compassion. With these components at the forefront – every member of this school feels secure, confident and cared for and we know that without a doubt that our students will love their experience of being a student here at J. Addison School.  It is deeply satisfying to be part of a school with such an excellent track record for success. We look forward to faithfully continuing the wonderful tradition that has been in place here for the past 20 years.

Supervising Principal’s Message

Dear Students, Staff, and Parents:

J. Addison School is not just a building. J. Addison School is not just a group of classrooms with students in them. J. Addison School is not just reading, writing and arithmetic. My definition of the name “J. Addison School” is more of a concept. It is the interaction of different people with a common focus – educating students to their highest level of ability. But the term “education” is not just learning content, facts and processes, but how to be successful in life. At J. Addison we continue to grow and we are proud that we ‘educate our students not to cut down jungles, but to irrigate deserts’.

I am thrilled to serve as the supervising principal of J. Addison School. It is a privilege to lead this learning community during a time of incredible change and tremendous possibilities. Our challenge is to embrace the future of the 21st century and assure that our students are properly prepared to become leaders in this exciting new world. In order to accomplish this monumental task we must provide the following: a high level of personalization in every aspect of a student’s high school experience, a proud recognition for individual and group accomplishments as well as for diligence and hard work, and, an unwavering commitment to the development of character and civic responsibility in our young people.

To our students, I ask that you reflect on your goals and strive not only to pursue personal excellence but also to demonstrate your perseverance and integrity. Know that I am here to support and encourage you as you explore different possibilities and grow as learners. Remember that with these opportunities, comes both a personal and collective responsibility to be supportive of one another. I will count on you to go beyond tolerance and treat all members of our community with respect. A school that aspires to greatness can expect no less.
