Volunteer Work and Community Partnership

Jean Vanier once stated, “One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn’t as individuals. When we pool our strength and share the work and responsibility, we can welcome many people, even those in deep distress, and perhaps help them find self-confidence and inner healing.” 

At J. Addison, we believe that the greatest lesson that we as an institution can impart to our students is the practice of performing charitable or benevolent actions within our community and most importantly, the world. Our goal is to create the awareness that our community plays an integral part in our student’s success. Students have the opportunity to be a part of a wide range of philanthropic events within the community. Students of J. Addison School garner an immense wealth of knowledge, a greater appreciation and a different outlook on their perception of their community that they live in.

We work closely with reputable non-profit organizations and charities all year round and organize many meaningful volunteering events which our students can participate in. International high school students, who require to meet the 40 hours of Community Involvement Activities as one of the requirements to receive the OSSD, will have ample opportunities and choices to fulfill this prerequisite during the school year.

Some of the events we have supported and fund-raised for include Terry Fox Run, Food Bank, tree-planting, 360 Kids Homeless Challenge, charitable marathons and many more.
